Located at 46 Grote Street, adjacent to Her Majesty’s Theatre and directly across the road from Adelaide Central Markets, the iconic Hotel Metropolitan has been quietly resurrected to her former glory. The 25 room hotel building was constructed in 1883 and is typical of Adelaide 19th century hotels with its bluestone construction, chamfered corner and dominant balcony and verandahs.

The Theatre Bar on Pitt and Grote Streets has been polished up to reveal a cool, classy charm. With the 16 beers and ciders on tap, and an extensive locally-dominated wine list, there are enough flavours to wet the palate on a spring afternoon.

Grote Street is beaming with outdoor style and there is always a seat to settle on Saturdays after the markets or to catch an evening summer breeze with a cool refreshing beverage. The Metro showcases most live sport via Foxtel and numerous screens throughout the venue.

The kitchen encourages a range of pub fare with a twist. From the classic schnitzel to more international flavours, lunch and dinner is available 7 days and tasty small plates are available all day from noon.

Hotel Metro is also one of Adelaide’s premier live music venues with gigs (at least) 5 nights a week in the Theatre Bar and the band room.

The Band Room fronts onto the open-air courtyard and also doubles as a private function room and conference/meeting area at other times.

It's also one of the few 'hotel venues' that still provides accommodation with 26 classic pub-style rooms (shared facilities) providing a comfortable, reasonably priced place to stay.
