Everyone’s favourite secret Karaoke bar, Heroes, is back at it again with a new Sunday night event, its chill enough to not leave you feeling too dusty on Monday morning but still the perfect way to end your weekend with a bang.
If you’ve been to Heroes before then you’ve probably heard about their epic Sunday sesh that is their Yum Cha® parties! They’ve retired this event so that they can bring about Curry-oke Sunday Nights throughout winter, where guests can sing some spicy tunes and enjoy family style Malaysian curry.
The first night will launch at 6-10pm on Sunday 26th May, with the event also happening on Sunday 23rd June and Sunday 28th July, so you’ve got to be quick if you want to head down to these events. There will be meat-based or vegan curry for diners to choose from, complemented with a soy braised dish and sambal stir-fried vegetables, all served with rice or deep-fried buns. Alongside them a variety of pickles will also be on the menu, perfectly paired with a cold pint.
For $25 guests will be able to enjoy the spread of food and open mic karaoke. Thirsty guests can add-on $20 for a drink ticket that includes a cocktail called ‘Curry on My Wayward Son’ which has lemongrass and chilli infused vodka, coconut cream, jalapeno hot sauce and garnished with dried curry leaf upon arrival. You’re also entitled to two house drinks to keep the night going.
If you’ve never heard of Heroes then don’t you worry, we forgive you. The secret karaoke bar is well and truly hidden on Bourke St; if you didn’t know about it then you might miss it. To enter you’ve got to head through Nitro Lab, the gelato shop, and at the back is a little elevator that will take you up to the magic that is Heroes.
It’s a four-level Singaporean-inspired rooftop and karaoke bar that opened less than a year ago. The venue is brought to you by the team from Fancy Hank’s and Good Heavens with all the food being cooked over fire inside a ferociously decorated setting full of hanging lanterns and dragons.
