Located in a heritage-listed basement on Barrack Street, near Martin Place and Wynyard and hidden away behind an unassuming psychic sign is Sydney’s very own version of the legendary and seminal New York establishment, Employees Only.

Cocktails by the masters, a New York inspired menu, and signature tarot readings until the early hours, make for a memorable evening for those Sydneysiders in a New York state of mind. A majestic scene of dark timber, brass highlights and plush green velvet is illuminated by skylights and is an ode to the original speakeasy institution still located in New York’s West Village.

Cocktails are innovative and have garnered a worldwide following, the ‘Amelia’ for instance (Wyborowa Vodka, St. Germain Elderflower liqueur shaken with fresh lemon & puréed blackberries), others such as the ‘Manhattan’ (Knob Creek Straight Rye Whiskey stirred with Mancino Rosso Vermouth, Grand Marnier & dashes of Angostura Bitters, served straight up), are timeless.

Executive Chef Richard Duff’s New York Bistro inspired menu gathers from French, Italian and Australian influences, and is flawlessly executed by Head Chef Leo Garnier. Experience EO’s signature dish ‘Steak Tartare’ which is handmade at your table. Try the slow roasted lamb shoulder, the Truffled Mac ‘n’ Cheese Scrumpets or indulge in the Caviar Service.
